I have a jelly like sensation in my gum where an extraction was carried out years ago.
Can you help?

Hi Pat, It is hard to say without seeing it. If the extraction was years ago I imagine it is unrelated and most likely a coincidence that it is occurring in the same spot.

Do you wear a partial or denture? Sometimes they irritate the gum tissue and I have seen it look quite red and inflamed. If that is the case, you could try leaving the partial out at night or for several hours during the day to let the tissue heal. Gently rinse the area with some warm salt water 3-4 times each day.

If you don't notice improvement after a few days, you should see your dentist.

Thanks for writing,
